I don’t know if they were breaking the sound barrier but I saw the Blue Angels fly over San Francisco Bay during sleep week one time and it was quite a show. It’s hard to tell but it looks like the plane is going 0.98 Mach so it’s very close but I can’t tell if it’s faster than the speed of sound because the audio makes it tough to hear if it’s just a straight up boom or the engine cutting off in the video
