We’ve been in business 75 years this year. I can relate to everything you talked about in this video. Self employment is not that golden job-career zillions of people seems to think it is. Good luck, and thanks for sharing your videos.
Just started my heat and air company two years ago. I’m proud of y’all for your tenacity! Keep going seems like everyday something breaks but that’s just how it seems!
When I break blades in the log I use a battery powered angle grinder with a cutting disk, cutting the section that is stuck in the log makes it easy to move the saw head out of the way then using felling wedges you can separate the pieces to retrieve the small section still in the cut. Good luck with these rough few months!
not worth it – blades for an lt40 are only $25 to $30 typically. Unless they’re bi-metal or carbide… then I suppose it could be worth it…? Usually blades break when they’ve been sharpened a number of times and are close to the end of their life anyways.
Just found your channel, and I can relate the struggle is real! After several years in the business 2016 knocked us out of the sawmilling business. We had a hard time sourcing logs. We were running a diesel LT70 and LT40, as well as a Lucas swing mill for larger slabs. Best of luck to y’all, hope things break your way!
