The infamous Cessna “wing lift” in windy conditions has been experienced by every Cessna pilot with a lot of hours. Coming in sans flaps so you have more aileron control until planted helps immensely. I’m sure the interior of the 180 was filled with the automated “ground loop, ground loop” warning, then followed up with the “feces, feces” alert as cockpit odor sensors sampled the air inside the small plane. Technology is awesome. For everyone saying the Cessna 180 should have gone around because he was floating down the runway, normally you’d be correct. But this was at the Oshkosh EAA Airventure where runways are divided into sections, with multiple planes landing on each runway simultaneously. The pilot was probably told to “fly it to the red dot” which is seen in the video at 2:35. If that’s the case, he touched down just about perfectly, but the ground loop is a different story…
