I saw an ad for a 1946John Deere Model R Diesel Tractor for sale so I went to investigate. It was pushed into a shed when it stopped running 20 years ago, the farmer needs the shed space for his new boat so he just wanted it gone. My wife: Why don’t you ever cry or show feelings? Me: tear rolls down every time Marty cranks up one of these beauties after they been sitting there for years. 🙂
Don’t hold me to this, but I’m pretty sure it’s a 1949 Model R. They were produced until 1953. Great find, actually and worth restoring. I’d say it was worth “swamping it” to get this one.
Looks like an “R” – she’s a 4 stroke. She looks a bit rough, hope you don’t have to invest a ton of money into it. Engine repairs on them old gals are getting pricy. I wouldn’t be surprised if you find water in the engine, looking at that property it wouldn’t shock me if it’s been deeper in the water at some point.
Looks like its a Good thing your Pops took good care of this truck.
